60th birthday celebration, October 2011
Most of us are around 60 years old now, so we decided to celebrate this momentous milestone. From far and wide we came (as far as Townsville and Melbourne and places between), some of us meeting first at the old school for a reminisce and then all of us for drinks and dinner. Many thanks to Arthur and his staff at Wilbur’s for being such easygoing hosts. To add to the excitement of the occasion, Qantas decided to ground all flights, so several of our out-of-town visitors had to scramble and make frantic mobile phone calls to rearrange flights home the next day- we think everyone got home in time!
It was a chatty night with lots of catching up and laughing. Our teachers Mr Beatton and his wife Kay, and Betty Growder and Lyn Gorrie from Maths joined us, but sadly a few other ex-staff weren’t able to. Christine’s daughter made us a yummy birthday cake and after we’d sung happy birthday to ourselves it disappeared rapidly. Thanks again to Attila for the great photos, and to Arthur (our host) for taking the group shots. And thanks to all who came- it was lovely to catch up with you again!
(Some photos from Paul and Kathy too. If you have some you’d like to share, please send them in!)

Great night! Good to catch up with you all, and I don’t think we have changed that much at all!
Nice photos. It was a really good night. Good to catch up with people I hadn’t seen for 40 years.
Great to see everyone. I am really sorry to have missed the event. Best wishes to you all for great Christmas. Look me up if you are ever in Maleny.
